All chevrons are expensive of the side of the highway

I had a Chevron gift card and although every station I've been to all I had to do was insert the card at the pump, for some reason this pump said see cashier. The man inside asked me if I knew how much was on the card, I said no, he said he couldn't help me. I took my business elsewhere.
