Good people. Good food. Good ambiance.

The quiche lorraine was ok, but not great. I wish the filling was less eggy and had more vegetables, like the spinach pastries that la mad used to have. I really miss the spinach pastries.

It was nice to return - I hadn’t been back for quite some time, and it delivered well - staff were a bit negative and didn’t seem to care :(

I had to wait for a while to get served b/c they were short staffed. The staff there are very friendly and I enjoy seeing them and talking to them

I was in rush and there was just a long line. Took me 20 min of wait. And got me to go to my rendez-vous late but it is okay

The employees near the pastries. I'm sorry to say this but he was not eager to present himself or even say good morning, which this always happens to all the employees. You would think someone knew would change and break that chain. Customer from your register again greet themselves let them know that customers are welcome. I've been living here in Alexandria Virginia for the last 30 years, The employees here have no regulation how to treat customers. Here are some more helpful but not others. The manager was very helpful when I forgot to add drinks to my order, and added them for me after the fact, which I was very grateful for. The only issue I had was that I had ordered a variety of sides to go with my sandwich box selections (a mix of fruit, pasta salad, etc) , and the only sides I got were chips/cookie, with every sandwich box. Otherwise, everything was great.

I am a member of your loyalty program, and I inquired about using the reward I was given in the app for this month towards something different. I don't really need a box of chocolate croissants, so had inquired if I might be able to use it towards the purchase of a piece of cake which I wasn't allowed to do.. It's unfortunate that you all don't allow the customer to decide on how to use the reward.

When are food was dropped off, we did not see utensils/napkins or our ordered drinks, therefore we asked the waitress where we could grab those items and how do we get the drinks. She was quick to get angry and start telling us that the cashier should have given your drinks. After we explained that this was our first time here, she gets mad and says she will get the cups and utensils and tells me to “sit down”. After she comes back, my husband explained that it wasn’t our place to inform staff of when to give our cups but that it was a management issue and we didn’t know about when to get our drinks since this was our first time. Overall, it was the rudeness and poor attitude of the waitress that made my experience sour. Mistakes happen but its how you handle them.

I am a long-time customer. The primary reason I like La Madeleine (Old Town, Alexandria) is the staff. Many are long-time employees. They are always friendly and, it seems to me, adherent to their responsibilities. The second reason I like the cafe is because of its ambiance. The coffee is excellent and the food is good - the third most important reason for my being largely satisfied. The singular detractor - and the reason I am unlikely to recommend the restaurant to others is the fact that the men's bathroom is often dirty. I can not comment upon the women's bathroom.
