This is my 5th year going as a teacher. I felt as though the last two years the organization over booked the settlement. The classes had long waits for activities, the children didn't get as much "hands on" time with manipulatives and stations felt very crowded. We felt rushed going through the stations. The guide seemed knowledgable, but not as much as some past. We go on this trip because it is supposed to follow the VA SOLs and in years past I felt like everything was covered during the visit. This year the kids didn't get as much information. I feel that this is all due to too many classes being scheduled for the same time slots. Maybe we should try another time of year, we always go at the end of the Jamestown Unit in early November.

Just felt too commercial for me

I think access to history should be free and not barracaded behind brick walls.
