Several popular exhibits were closed (zebra, lion). That was a bummer

Staff should check to make sure toddlers have swim diapers before they enter the slash park! It was closed twice while we were there due to "accidents". The splash park was a main reason we were visiting and we didn't get to enjoy it but for 2mins.

Lots of animals were off exhibit and it was under construction so this is why I rated satisfactory but over all it was a really nice zoo.

I have been going to the Louisville zoo since I was a child. Since then I have moved to Savannah Georgia and have had children of my own. I decided while I was in town I would take my kids to the Louisville zoo because I always had such a great experience growing up. My kids were not very amused. The Indoor exhibits with the smaller species is it too bad, but the area where the penguins are is absolutely breathtaking and the worst way possible. The water was disgusting the whole room and building reeked of fish and the birds were just sitting up top not even wanting to get into that water-I can't blame them. Honestly the smell and that building is so bad something truly needs to be done! The Legoland exhibits were really interesting and I think those were my kids favorite part of the whole zoo. I was highly disappointed that my children couldn't see the Lions, the camels, and could only see the rear ends of elephants because of the construction. I feel that they should have given a heads up at the ticket booth that that portion of the zoo was closed off. Of course I will come back to the Louisville zoo because like I said before it was a fun piece of my childhood memories and I hope that next time everything will be up and running. On a positive note the gorilla exhibit is exquisite and so is the polar bear exhibit. I really enjoyed how well you can watch the polar bears in the water, and how up close and personal you can get with the gorillas.
